We're Doing Our First Ever One Room Challenge! ORC Fall 2021

We're doing something we've NEVER done before . . . giving ourselves a deadline and jumping in to the One Room Challenge!

The One Room Challenge (ORC) is an 8-week renovation where you share your weekly updates and pick one room to totally transform. This post is dedicated to the room reveal and sharing our plans with you!

Jonathan and I will be renovating . . . our main bathroom! We may have gotten a head start, but I'll share some pics of what it looked like when we moved in. Our primary bathroom is on the smaller side, and we've been wanting to change this space for a while.

We got a quote a month ago for labor only (not materials included) and it came out to $12,000! Our jaws dropped and we knew right then we would DIY this one. We should've picked DIY from the beginning because HELLO?! We're Jonathan + Jenna! When do we ever do anything the easy way?

Here's what the bathroom looked like when we bought our first home in 2018:

We made a few cosmetic changes, like painting the vanity and putting in new lights and mirrors.

So we'll be tackling the primary bathroom, one week at a time. And I have to admit, Jonathan will be doing most of the DIY work, but I will be there to help and learn along the way.

Here are some more earlier pictures from when we moved in: that's my first selfie in our bathroom, LOL.

Then this year I painted our tile floor with a Cutting Edge Stencil hexagon floor stencil. It was one of my hardest DIYs, and it turned out fun! It was always a temporary solution, so I wasn't too sad to say goodbye.

Here's what we're changing in this room!

EVERYTHING.

Yes, everything. From the floor to the bathtub, the lights to the vanity, we'll be renovating 99% of this room. The walls will stay white, and we're keeping the same layout, but upgrading all the pieces of this bathroom.

New vanity. New bathtub. Shower tiling. New flooring. New toilet. Removing the medicine cabinet. New mirrors and lighting. Have we said "new" enough yet?

Right now, our bathroom is in DEMO mode and the place is a mess. But what's DIY without the messy middle parts? Here are the mood boards I made for our main bathroom renovation:

We already have the vanity (from Costco!) and the bathtub (from Amazon!). We found flooring at Floor & Decor and have a vision of a calm, serene, neutral bathroom! We love touches of gold and white + wood. We haven't decided on a few things yet, like shower niche tiles or lights or mirrors, but we have an idea of what direction we want to go in!
